Grappling Hook Belt

Tuesday, November 4, 2014

I've had this idea for awhile but haven't done much research on it up until a few days ago. The problem with researching novel ideas, especially with a search engine designed to assume that humans make mistakes and otherwise aren't sure what they are looking for, is that instead of giving you exactly what you are asking for Google will more often suggest things that are simply more popular. Searching with the terms that this post is titled render results of traditional grappling hooks and attachments for belts or even worse, Batman fandom. The best of modern grappling hook designs is more recent but is made more to be portable than hidden (although it's size make me question practicality). Instead, I'd like to develop my idea of allowing the grappling hook to be concealed as a belt.

Flatbed Scanner Art

Wednesday, August 7, 2013

Recently, I was given the task of scanning images into the computer using a flatbed scanner. It reminded me of when I was younger and I was digitizing some artwork I had drawn. It's common nowadays for some artists to draw their work by hand and then scan the piece into the computer for compositing and editing purposes. However, this revisit to using the scanner gave me an idea that doesn't seem to have been developed yet.

A New Year, a New Design

Tuesday, July 9, 2013

It's been a while since I've updated. I've since gotten very involved in school; trying to better myself and the people around me. In doing so, I was introduced to a concept called responsive web design. Considering all the different types of devices people can now use to view a web page, it's now very important to ensure a page is designed to look sound on all these devices, including new ones to come. That is the reason for this new design which brought some new challenges to overcome.

The Great Social Media Birthday Experiment

Friday, December 14, 2012

My birthday has past and the day itself wasn't all that different from previous years. The party was held over last weekend and a good time was had by all and then some. However, little did many people know what I was about to do on the actual anniversary of my birth. It has been something I've been planning for over a year, just because I am a curious sort of human being. The results were somewhat surprising but very much appreciated.

Project: Parasol

I always liked the design of the umbrella, shielding people from the elements. How, there's all sorts of shapes and sizes with different designs printed on them. The Penguin character from the Batman series had an arsenal of them for an imaginitive array of functions; from a machine gun to a personal helicopter. Available on the market today are umbrellas with hidden daggers and swords in the handle for protection. The idea I have is for a show or movie that revolves around a prototype umbrella, but it's unlike anything seen before.

A Smarter Way to Wait Your Turn

Saturday, April 7, 2012

Arcades were a substantial influence on my life when I was growing up. There were usually a lot of people waiting to play the newest games, so a popular method of keeping track of who plays next was born; the coin line. The coin was used to credit the game and it was inexpensive to the player. It wasn't too big of a deal if the coin was stolen. As technology grew, the coin was replaced by a card which would keep all of your game credits. Surely, you wouldn't want to keep all of your money laying on the machine to wait your turn. What now?

Wearing Your Data

The Universal Serial Bus, otherwise known as USB, has been very instrumental over the years. I remember when printers required the use of the parallel port but now it's simply a USB connection. USB ports can be used for connecting peripherals or even powering smaller devices, such as LED lights and cellphones. One of the most popular uses for the USB port is for saving data on to external drives. These drives are usually small, maybe the size of a keychain. However, I feel they have some design problems that haven't been solved yet.
